Will the Southern states ever move forward and reconcile their racial prejudices?
Many Southerners, even so call bible totting people, did not vote for Obama only because of the color of his skin. Will they ever reconcile their racial prejudices?

Ignore, for the moment, that he just smeared an entire region of the US, not to mention those who live in the South and voted for Comrade Obama.

My first inclination was to ask when northerners would admit theirs. After some thought, I came up with a good answer in response to another of his questions:

"Why would many educational and economically deprived Southern states continue with the policies of a Republican administration unless they were voting for the color of Obama's skin?"

Why was Bobby Jindal (Indian American) elected? Maybe "many" Southerners saw the fraud that is liberalism exposed by hurricane Katrina. Maybe they saw Haley Barbour and Jeb Bush roll up their sleeves to get to work rebuilding their states while Blanco worried about her house and pointing fingers. Maybe Southerners saw William Jefferson commandeer rescue vehicles to save his cold cash and didn't want any more of that sort of representation.

Honestly, I don't know.

I took an unannounced leave many months ago because I had started a new job and I thought I might have Carpel Tunnel. Not only did I scale back on my typing, I just couldn't find the motivation to blog. I had grand ideas for writing posts, but when I sat down to put pen to paper, as it were, I just didn't want to. So, I just quit. No explanation to the readers I had or anything.

I think that I would like to get back into the game agian, considering all the new material there is to write. Over the next few weeks. I'll be moving again and probably won't be able to write much. I hope to do so once settled in. Please stay tuned.

On Small Town Gay Bar

I'm not much of a movie reviewer, but I wanted to write something about the documentary Small Town Gay Bar which I saw tonight. Here's what I hacked out on IMDB:

I grew up in Raymond, MS. Didn't "come out" until I was living in Houston, TX. One thing that I'm not wild about is the selection of Mississippi. Whenever a film maker wants to highlight bigotry and intolerance, they head for MS. You can find pretty much the same in almost every state, but I guess it's more fun to pick on Mississippi and paint everybody there as racist, sexist, bigot homophobes. I've been in gay bars in Laredo, TX (which Rumors reminded me of) and Lakeland, FL. and it's pretty much the same.

I did like it from the point that I'm always curious about gay life in MS. I haven't had the chance to return since I moved away back in 1992. I always wonder about it and who I grew up with who might be gay.

The thing that gets me is that gays are opposed to narrow-mindedness, stereotypes and bigotry, but we can pick on Mississipians, "rednecks" and "hillbillys" as in other posts. There's plenty of gay rednecks and hillbillys and I'm sure you saw a few in this film. What's more, there's the obligatory reference to Republicans by Alicia/Jim(?). The reality is that democrats have their fair share of homophobes as well (Rev. Fred Phelps for one). Their just able to hide it. Some of the most anti-gay laws recently have come from the democrats.

It just seems strange to me that one bigotry is supplanted by another and that's supposed to be ok.

But I digress. Overall, I did like the film and found it very informative. I would recommend it to others to get an idea of what gay life is sorta like in MS., even though I really didn't experience it. I would also say that perhaps some of the big city gays like in the Montrose, Castro, WeHo etc. might see that even as all of us have to put up with intolerance, some have more than others.

It just amazes me that it's ok to replace one form of intolerance for another.

Dan, over at GayPatriot, has some good posts essentially asking why the gay left in America is completely disinterested in the real homophobia going on in the world. I think it mostly comes down to the fact that they lack the balls to confront the Muslims carrying out attacks and hangings. Pretty much the same reason the so-called "Human Rights" groups lack interest in real human rights abusers.

Say the scientists who, mostly, don't have any experience or education as far as the climate goes. But hey, they're scientists after all. Nevermind that the more you look into Global Warmism, the more absurd it looks. Nevermind the scientists who disagree with Global Warmism. Nevermind the fact that those scientists who agree with Global Warmism refuse to prove it or debate it. They claim "the debate is over" to excuse themselves from actually having to back up their claims. Nevermind the fact that the only answers to Global Warmism is loading the U.S. with more and more taxes, more and more erosion of freedom, poisonous mercury filled lightbulbs and converting needed food into fuel which causes more pollution than carbon based fules. Nevermind the warnings every ten years that we only have ten years left to exist.

If one pays enough attention, one realizes that there's good money in Global Warmism. Most of the commercials I saw during Earth Month required spending money to participate. There's many scientists who signed on to Global Warmism because that's where the money is these days.

Oust Bush administration, say Democrats.

You'd think that if any of them truly believed this or had an actual leg to stand on, they would have done so by now.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, says the environmentalist

I've not seen where anybody has said this is a bad idea. At the same time, I haven't seen a whole lot of evidence that it "saves the world" as much as we're supposed to believe. And yes, I do have those cloth bags from Publix, Wal-Mart and Home Depot. I use them everytime I remember to pick them up.

As far as health care reform, Republicans have tried putting it forward. The problem is that the liberals want nothing more than free healthcare that would cripple the profession and destroy any incentives to become a healthcare professional. What's more, Socialist healthcare has been a proven failure where ever it's tried. That's why so many flock here or countrys without it to get treated.

My mom used to work for a Lipidologist in the Houston Medical Center. A lot of his patients were from other countries, most with Socialist healthcare, who came to Houston just to see the doctor. If Socialist healthcare was such a great idea, there wouldn't be a healthcare tourism industry which books travel for you to other countries so you can actually be seen by a doctor.
I worked in 911 & private EMS in Houston for almost 10 years and I NEVER saw a single patient denied healthcare. I'm also aware that there is more than a plethora of assistance out there, and plenty of redundant assistance soaking up more and more money. There's also plenty of people on assistance who don't need it. Worked for a doctor once. He was a retired thoracic surgeon under Dr. DeBakey. Lot of his patients on Medicare driving better vehicles than the doctor did. Sorta blew a hole in the "rich doctor" stereotype.

I don't have a child, but if I did, I would much rather they be treated here in the U.S. (still the best healthcare in the world) than anywhere else and that includes Canada and the U.K.

As for the polar bear, they're not endangered or threatened. Their populations have been increasing over the last several years. But the left still put a higher priority on them and not 10,000 auto workers instead. Can't think of anyone who has said it was unpatriotic.

As far as marijuana, I've seen many conservatives plug for the legalisation of it. Pick up a copy of National Review and you'll find at least one, probably two ads supporting it. What's more, I've known many liberals who oppose it. Can't think of anyone on the left or right who ever said it was unpatriotic.

As far as "removing cells from our bodies" you'll remember that Bush has done more for stem cell research than any previous president. The thing is that folks generally support adult stem cell and placenta stem cell research because it has PROVEN to be effective. Meanwhile, embryonic stem cell research currently shows NO promise. Why should we throw money at something that currently shows no promise? What's more, what about all the PRIVATE funding out there? If it's worth spitting on, there's lots of money to be had.

As far as the mother who's lost sons in Iraq, there are plenty out there who have lost their children over there and support finishing the job. Should we ignore them because they haven't been "Dowdified"? The left used to swear that the "majority of the people" wanted us out of Iraq and that Bush was ignoring the "will of the people". Last I heard, only 14% supported leaving immediately. As of April, last I checked, only 38% of Iraqis wanted us out now. How do you reconcile that?

As far as "listnening to Jesus", couldn't help but notice your intolerant anti-Christian smear. I doubt, however, that you would apply the same to Muslims who listen to Mohammed in the name of "political correctness" and "tolerance".

Long story short, I don't know that your "unpatriotic" arguement fits any of these issues. I've not heard it applied. If you can provide examples which back up your claim, I'd be interested in reading it. As it is, as far as I can tell, your entire post is absurd and based on suppostion.

I wasn't going to respond, but I did. Then I wasn't going to spend much time on it, but I got on a roll. Oh well.

So in the left's attacks on Sen. John McCain, it seems that it's appropriate to make fun of his age. Liberals don't see this as bias or hatred against Seasoned Citizens. I wonder if their buddies in the AARP feel the same.

So I was reading an article about the "rich" over at The Cagle Post and read some of the comments. Oh, the comments were the usual piss-ant liberal bullshit moaning "Oh my life sucks ass and it's all the fault of the rich". Sweet Jesus! I hate it when liberals piss and moan and blame everybody else except themselves for how much their life sucks. And their lives always suck. I mean, have you ever met a happy liberal? I haven't. I decided join the fray with my .02¢ which I will share here:

So you "soak the rich". Then what? You're still earning $13/hr. It didn't do anything to improve your life, did it?

The dirty secret is that the Bush tax cuts "for the rich" has actually increased the amount of money that the top 50% pay in taxes since 2000. Also, the Bush tax cuts "for the rich" removed thousands of lower income individuals from paying ANY taxes at all. I think it's the bottom 25% don't pay taxes. Toss out the Bush tax cuts "for the rich", and you put those thousands of people right back on the rolls of tax payers. Further, you lower the amount that the rich pay.

Another dirty secret that the left doesn't want you to know, when the top tax rate was 70% in 1980, the rich only paid 19% of taxes. Now with a tax rate of 35%, they about double that amount. The comments on this thread just don't jibe with the reality of IRS numbers as explained here:

You have to weed through a lot of liberal spin, but the truth is buried deep in the story.

The reality is that when you increase the tax rates, people shelter their money to keep more of it for themselves. "Oh the greedy rich!!!" Hey, we're all greedy. You guys admitted that you would take advantages of shelters and loopholes if you could. Back on point, if you lower the tax rate, the people will tend to take more of their money out of shelters and spend it. This is how we've had record revenues (even higher than Clinton's) into the treasury the last few years and you don't have to gut the military or raid Socialist Stupidity (like in the 90s) to inflate the numbers.

One more dirty secret: as far as taxes go, the democrats consider ANYBODY making an income "rich". Clinton & Obama have promissed billions and billions in new spending. Remember democrats believe that ANYBODY with an income is "rich". You're NOT going to get "middle class" tax cuts.

What's more, people are whining about not having enough money for schools because of Iraq. We're so poor, however, that we can scrape up $6 BILLION for fad fuels that we know don't work and that we know is worse than gasoline. Besides, if you really gave a crap about schools, you'd support vouchers and charter schools that have proven to work. Why in the world do you want to keep kids in failing schools and just bury them and the unions with money so we don't have to look at it anymore? C'mon. The "what about the children" routine is boring and stale especially when you want them kept hostage in failing schools held for ransom. You wouldn't want the government telling you where to go for college, why elementary and high school.

Long story short, get over yourselves, educate yourselves instead of listening to what you're told to believe and for God's sake, grow up and take responsibility for yourself for a change. Quit whining about how bad your life sucks and do something about it. You're the only one who can. It's not up to us to make your life better.

Hey, life's a bitch, but part of being an adult is taking responsibility and dealing with issues yourself. Sure it's great to get help, but it's up to you to do something about it. If you don't accept responsibility and depend on other people to handle your problems, well you just might as well move back in with your folks, crawl into bed and stay there. I just wish more people would grow some balls instead of blaming everything on everybody else.

First of all, I do have a grip on myself. I know who and what I am and, what's more, I am happy and proud of myself. I know what I stand for and what I believe in. I don't believe that I am a victim or a "second class citizen". I am a citizen of the United States of America and firmly believe in the greatness and exceptionalism of my country of birth. I have a partner of 10 years and we've NEVER once required anybody's approval or blessings for our happiness.

Secondly, I have never known a black man who has donned the white hood of the KKK. Perhaps you can enlighten me. I've known several liberals, who pretend to give a fuck about blacks and minorities, who have. I know people in Mississippi and South Carolina who can make one disappear never to be found.

As far as being a traitor to my "gay brothers and sisters", mine are actually those who put the country ahead of themselves. They're not self-absorbed and narcissistic as the gay liberals tend to be. I'm also very aware of the democrats, who pander to gays for cash and votes, have historically opposed and legislated against gays. We have gotten the most anti-gay laws from the liberals who swear they love us so.

And as far as being a "traitor to the nation I call home", I don't belittle the soldiers serving us, I don't demand the surrender and defeat of the United States. I don't support a liberal, anti-Semite former president and Failure of the House partying with Syria, Hamas and other enemies of "the nation I call home". Nor do I believe an lying idiot ambassador and his lying wife. I don't believe in or support senators travelling on Hussein's dime and calling our president a liar on TV.

Nor do I support an arrogant snob who trashes the people whom he'd like to vote for him. Not to mention the fact that I don't support his associations with Saul Alinsky, Bill Ayers, Rev. Wright, the homophobic Rev. Farrakhan and the homophobic Rev. James Meeks. Not to mention the other homophobes B. HUSSEIN Orgasma surrounds himself with. Nor do I dig Hillary Marxist Clinton who's done absolutely nothing with her life but grooming for the presidency and even then, she's done very little of substance.

You and other gays may lack the self respect to object to real homophobia, but I don't and neither do my gay brothers and sisters. My wish is that you find out what real hatred is and discover that things aren't as bad as you want to believe they are. What's more, I pray that you grow up and put others and the country before yourself and realize who, exactly is hell bent on the destruction of the country.

Got a fundraising e-mail today from the Human Rights Campaign. It opens thusly:

Sunni-Shiite Terror Connection

What do we really know about the terrorists. Well, what do the talking heads know? We're always told that Sunnis would never collaborate with Shiites and neither would work with atheist terror groups. Amir Taheri points out several examples when exactly that has occurred in this excellent peice.

We're supposed to believe that all these terror groups out there would never work together to further their political goals. The "conventional wisdom" holds that folks like Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden would never cooperate because of their conflicting religious beliefs. That, btw, was the estimation of one Saddamite (can't find his name at the moment) which has been taken as gospel truth by those who don't want to believe that there was legitimate reason to take out the sonofabitch.

History is replete with examples of religious and athiest groups collaborating with each other to further common political goals. In this case, you have to sort of toss out the religious aspect to fully understand what exactly is going on. Yeah religious beliefs is important to understanding, but more so is the political ends of destroying the U.S., Israel or whomever the target du jour might be. One has to look at the big picture and take into consideration what their common goal is. You can't ignore one group in favor of another.

Well apparently I bombed on the test which would have moved me either to Miami or Savannah. It was one of those idiotic character assessment tests. I don't know how I blew it, but somehow I did. You know, the pre-employment test that could be read several ways and has questions like:

I have stolen from an employer before.

I often have thoughts I don't want others to know about.

If I were to be caught stealing, I would rat out the others who helped.

I do drugs on a regular basis.

Etc. I hate those tests because I think they could be read different ways. Like the one about haveing thoughts I don't want others to know about. I think we all have thoughts like that, but if you say Yes, they might think "Well what is he hiding? Is he having thoughts about killing everyone and burning the whole world?". I try to go with my gut on those and not think too much about it. I worked a job once that had a test like that and with FAA security clearance. I was also offered a job once with the same exact test. I don't know what I did wrong on this one.

What really gets me is that I was told that I can't reapply for this job again since I flunked the test. The irony is that I passed the math part and I suck royally in math. South Florida Liberals, Or Thoughts From The Road

Liberals are supposed to be "progressive", caring, more considerate of others than you are, right? So how do liberal douchebags in South Florida explain away with wearing Fidel hats and Guevara t-shirts in Miami and there-abouts? I should have taken pictures for the blog to illustrate my point, but I was busy looking at guys, Guayaberas and trying to find the Crocs Store, which turned out to be only a kiosk.

Which brings me to New York drivers. When you're going to pass a vehicle, it's best to make sure you see it in your rear view mirror before trying to change lanes to get in front of it. All over the world, and most parts of America, it's not a very good idea to try to merge a PT Cruiser into the side of a Jeep Commander. BTW, could somebody tell me if there's a law in New York banning turn signals on pain of death?

New Yorkers may be cool people, but in general, your driving habits suck. Yankees love to go on about how backward Southerners are, but it's pretty damned backwards trying to merge two vehicles into one a mile or more before actually turning.

Which brings me to restaurants in South Florida. Namely Bahama Breeze and Denny's (just love Moons Over Myhammy). You're in the South. There's no conceivable good excuse for not serving sweet tea. Further, do NOT insult me, or others, by telling me that I can have regular tea and add sugar. It's NOT the same thing. You wouldn't serve a piece of cake and tell me to put my own icing on it, right? Why in God's name would you hand me iced tea and tell me to add my own sugar. You're a great restaurant with excellent food. Don't piss in my Cheerios by telling me "Oh, we don't have sweet tea!". There's just no excuse. This isn't IndihioYorkinois.

Which brings me to Lester's Diner. If you're ever in Sunrise, FL, you need to check out this joint. For the most part, I've only had breakfast there. The coffee is great and the food is pretty damn good. This morning I had a banana pancake and a chocolate chip pancake with my breakfast. HAVE MERCY!! They use real bananas and Nestle Toll House chips. They're conveniently located halfway between Sawgrass Mills Mall and Ikea. If you go to Lester's, there's a very nice Ecuadoran waitress there named Maria. She'll take care of you and you should tip her well.

TGC Moving Again??

Possibly.
I have two job opportunities with the same company that I'm looking at right now. One would require moving down to Miami. The other, moving to Savannah, Ga. I'll be leaving tomorrow for a Monday orientation for both jobs in Miami. Not sure at the moment, but I might be back on Wednesday or Thursday as my mother and I are going to spend a few days holiday there (she was raised in Coral Gables).

I'm shooting for both jobs right now, but leaning towards Savannah because that job seems to have a more stable schedule. The job out of Miami would require 100% travel. If I took that one, I would probably move down to Sunrise which is a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale. My little brother lives down there and I like the area. Lots of shopping and a nice outlet mall within walking distance of his apartment. The only thing is that I despise moving with a passion.

So anyways that's where I'll be most of next week. I'll get back to y'all as soon as I can.

I was going to post the following earlier this morning. However, I've been awake since 2200 last night and have spent a total of 2.5 at home since. So without further adieu:

Rush's Morning Update: Drive-By Anniversary

This week, of course, marked the fifth anniversary of American-led forces taking out one of the world's most heinous dictators -- Saddam Hussein. And the beginning of our engaging the Islamofacist terror group Al-Qaeda, severely weakening their ability to wage war on Western civilization.
The unaccountable American Drive-By Media marked the occasion fully as expected. News stories detail US losses -- 4,000 dead. Now, every American death is a heartbreak, but that number is fewer than any major multi-theatre war we've fought since our birth. The Drive-Bys also presented stories of other "victims" of the war, among them college students so stressed out that they are paralyzed in their daily lives; they're unable to go to class or do laundry. So depressed they must seek psychological help to survive... on campus!
There are also "victims" in Greenville, California: residents who oppose a proposed group home for wounded soldiers because "deranged veterans" will live near them. They're also concerned that trees would have to be cut for these housing units.
And, there's the kooks -- fewer in number now -- still holding protests and chanting "no blood for oil" as they tie up traffic and make total asses of themselves.
But the Drive-Bys somehow missed the stories of our heroes. The brave members of the American military who've answered the call of their country -- who protect us from those who've murdered thousands of our fellow citizens -- and still threaten our way of life. Also forgotten: the huge "Thank You" they so richly deserve. We are happy to offer it.

Emphasis mine, of course.

Now, I can't say that I saw a whole lot of coverage. I saw Bush's speech and the rest was dirty hippie douchebags here, Tampa, Washington DC and NYC. Nowhere did I see any evidence of liberals expressing their thanks to the soldiers in our nation's service. Given that they claim that they support our soldiers and are indignant whenever questions their patriotism, one would think they would make damn sure our soldiers knew they have their support as well.

But no, we get whiney-ass douchebags whom smear our soldiers instead of going to work or school. It must be nice to shirk your responsibilities and make an ass out of yourself on TV. Nobody's impressed or motivated by these actions. They are the subject of widespread mockery and I, for one, will gladly challenge their patriotism and address them as the ANSWER communist bastards they are.

And you can call me a chickenhawk. That's fine. You have that right, even though you don't know a damn thing about me. But let there be no mistake, I'd much rather be a chicken hawk, supporting our country and her soldiers, than a gutless America-hating chicken shit.

And BTW, did Orgasma or Hillary offer up their thanks or did the argue over who could surrender to the Islamofascists the fastest?

Saddam's Terrorism Ties

I'm currently reading through the IDA's Iraqi Perspectives Project Saddam and Terrorism:Emerging Insights from Captured Iraqi Documents Vol. 1. I hadn't heard any of the news coverage on this at all until yesterday.

Essentially, this was a study done of more than 600,000 documents obtained in Iraq after the invasion. It clearly shows that there were ties between Saddam Hussein, and terrorists. The liberals and their lap dog media are only focusing on one line in the Executive Summary which reads:

This study found no "smoking gun" (i.e., direct connection) between Saddam's Iraq and al Qaeda.

They have decided that this is the nail in the coffin of Bush's reasons for going to war in Iraq. Nothing could be further from the truth (as usual). They miss all other references to his ties to other terrorist groups. Further, it states "direct connection". It doesn't say that there was no indirect connection.

The liberals, as you can see here, seem content to plug their ears and scream rather than discover that the truth doesn't mesh with their narrative. I'll probably have more to add later, when I'm more awake. The long story short, Iraq was a state sponsor of terrorism long before we got there and was a threat to American interests.

One thing I've always asked: How could Iraq be secular with "Allahu Akbar" ("God is Great") on it's flag? If we put "In God We Trust" on our flag, do you suppose the liberals and the ACLU would say that we were secular? How about if we used taxpayer money to build churches?
